Apple's Latest iPadOS Update Is a Total Disaster - Read This Before Updating!

September 18, 2024

Apple has paused the rollout of iPadOS 18 for M4 iPad Pros after a wave of complaints flooded social media about devices being bricked following the update.

The update, which was initially released for all supported iPad models, was meant to bring a host of new features and improvements to Apple's tablets. However, for many M4 iPad Pro users, the excitement was short-lived.

Reports began surfacing online of devices freezing, crashing, and in some cases, becoming completely unusable after installing the update. In some instances, users reported that their devices would not boot up at all, effectively rendering them 'bricked).

The issue appears to be widespread, with Apple threads, Twitter, and other social media platforms filled with frustrated users documenting their experiences.

Apple has since stopped signing the 18.0 update for M4 iPad Pros, in effect, preventing users from installing the problematic update. The company has not yet commented on the issue or offered an estimated timeline for when a fix might become available.

The move has left many M4 iPad Pro users in limbo, with some taking to social media to express their disappointment and frustration with the situation.

'I updated my M4 iPad Pro to iPadOS 18 this morning, and now it's completely dead,' wrote one frustrated user. 'I've tried everything to revive it, but nothing seems to work. Apple please help!'.

Another user reported a similar experience, stating that the update 'completely bricked my iPad Pro. I've never seen anything like this before.'.

The issue is a setback for Apple, which has faced criticism in the past for releasing buggy software updates. The company has a reputation for being meticulous about the quality of its software, but this latest incident may raise concerns about the rigor of its testing procedures.

For M4 iPad Pro users, the situation serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of waiting a few days before installing new software updates. In this case, that advice would have saved many users from the frustration and inconvenience of dealing with a bricked device.

As for Apple, it remains to be seen how the company will respond to the situation. A fix for the issue is sure to be forthcoming, but for now, the company appears to be taking a step back to regroup and figure out what went wrong.
