It's been years since the curtains closed on Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? (IPKKND), but the bond between its lead stars Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani remains unbroken. In an exclusive conversation with us, Barun opened up about reuniting with his co-star and close friend Sanaya, and what's surprising is that nothing has changed in their equation despite the passing years.
'We meet once a week anyway,' Barun revealed in a casual tone, sounding like it's the most normal thing in the world to meet your ex-co-star on a regular basis. While it might sound simple, it speaks volumes about the kind of friendship Barun and Sanaya share.
For the unversed, IPKKND was a massive hit back in the day and launched the careers of both Barun and Sanaya. The show's success was unprecedented, and the on-screen chemistry between the lead pair was undeniable. Fans still root for them, holding on to the memories of Arnav and Khushi, the iconic characters they played on the show.
When asked about how life has changed since IPKKND, Barun expressed that while the show was a game-changer, it also came with its own set of challenges. 'I was very affected by the kind of discrimination I faced during my early days as a TV actor. People would consider television inferior to film, and that used to hurt,' Barun confessed, adding that it was difficult to deal with the constant scrutiny and criticism.
However, Barun has come a long way since then and has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. He's done his fair share of films and web series and has won hearts with his performances. Despite all the success, Barun remains humble and grounded, and his equation with Sanaya is a testament to that.
On the professional front, Barun has several projects lined up, including a web series and a few films. When asked about what's next for him, he remained tight-lipped, saying, 'I can't reveal too much right now, but I'm excited about the projects I'm working on.'
As for reuniting with Sanaya on screen, Barun was non-committal but expressed his willingness to work with his friend again. 'We've spoken about it, but nothing is concrete as of now. I'd love to work with Sanaya again, but it needs to be the right project at the right time,' he said.
