England opener Ben Duckett smashed a belligerent hundred but Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan struck three late blows to leave the second test evenly poised on an enthralling second day on Wednesday.
The action-packed day saw the visitors make a strong start after being asked to bat first but Pakistan staged a remarkable comeback to put themselves back in the game.
Duckett continued his impressive form as he notched up his third century in just four Tests. The left-handed batsman looked in a different zone as he smashed the Pakistan bowlers all around the park. He showed a perfect blend of aggression and caution as the English innings progressed.
England had a great opportunity to take control of the match with Duckett and his partner, Harry Brook, going great guns. However, the Pakistan bowlers didn't let them extend their dominance as they kept on picking wickets at regular intervals.
England's middle order looked pretty shaky as the Pakistan bowlers continued to make inroads. The visiting side lost five wickets in the final session, which has left them in a spot of bother. Sajid Khan, in particular, was the thorn in England's flesh as he picked three crucial wickets in the dying stages of the day.
The third session saw a dramatic change in the fortunes of the game. Pakistan bowlers came out fired up and their aggressive intent paid off. Shaheen Shah Afridi, in particular, was unplayable as he picked wickets and put pressure on the English batsman.
The visiting side was once going great guns but an hour of madness put their innings in a spot of bother. With the momentum shifting rapidly, Pakistan would look to continue their dominance on the third day of the second Test.
The match is pretty evenly poised as of now, and the third day is expected to be a cracker. England would look to extend their lead and put pressure on the Pakistan batsman. On the other hand, the hosts would be looking to restrict the damage and make inroads into the English tailenders.
