Boeing CFO Drops Bombshell: Here's The One Shocking Thing They're Desperate To Do Next

September 15, 2024

In a surprise move that caught many off guard, Boeing Chief Financial Officer Brian West made a public plea forconciliation on Friday morning, stating that the company’s senior leadership is eager “to get back to the table and to hammer out a deal” with the Machinists union, which officially went on strike earlier that day.

This development is particularly noteworthy given the tense relationship between the two parties, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing labor dispute. However, West’s comments suggest that Boeing is now taking a more conciliatory approach, with the company’s new CEO, Kelly Ortberg, personally getting involved in the negotiations.

According to West, Boeing’s top priority is to reach an agreement that is mutually beneficial for both the company and the union. “We want to reach an agreement that’s good for our people, their families, our customers, and the communities we serve,” West said in his public remarks.

It remains to be seen whether this new approach will yield any tangible results, but industry observers are cautiously optimistic that a resolution may be within reach. The fact that Ortberg is personally taking the reins in the negotiations is seen as a positive development, given her reputation for being a shrewd and effective leader.

The strike by the Machinists union is a major concern for Boeing, as it has the potential to disrupt production and impact the company’s bottom line. However, by extending an olive branch and expressing a genuine willingness to negotiate, Boeing may be able to mitigate some of the damage and find a way forward that is acceptable to both parties.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: Boeing is committed to finding a solution that works for everyone involved. Whether that will be enough to bring the union back to the negotiating table remains to be seen, but West’s comments on Friday morning represent a significant step in the right direction.
