Following Odell Beckham Jr.'s first full practice with the Miami Dolphins, wide receivers coach Wes Welker couldn't help but heap praise on the three-time Pro Bowl receiver, who was undoubtedly thrilled to be back on the field.
From the moment OBJ agreed to terms on a deal with the Dolphins, expectations began to swirl around the potential impact he could have for the team. After watching him perform during his first full practice, it's clear that Beckham Jr. is eager to make up for lost time, and Welker is more than excited about what he's seen so far.
'Odell's looked great,' Welker told reporters after the practice session came to a close. 'The work that he's put in has been fantastic. We look forward to seeing him take the field for us this season.'
While things are certainly trending in the right direction for Beckham Jr., whether or not he'll suit up for the Dolphins' upcoming game against the Patriots remains to be seen. It's understandable that the team wants to exercise caution with their newest acquisition, but fans are eagerly anticipating the day when OBJ will finally take the field.
'I'm feeling good, feeling healthy, feeling strong,' Beckham Jr. said in a statement. 'I'm excited to be out there with my teammates and get to work.' The excitement is palpable, and with good reason - if Beckham Jr. can recapture the elite form that made him a three-time Pro Bowl selection, the Dolphins may have just landed the perfect weapon to boost their chances this season.
Welker's assessment of Beckham Jr.'s first full practice is undoubtedly a promising sign for the team. As the season wears on and the Dolphins look to make their mark, the impact of OBJ's performance on the field will undoubtedly be worth keeping a close eye on.
The question on everyone's mind remains: will OBJ be ready to go when the Dolphins face off against the Patriots? Fans can only hope that the answer is a resounding yes - because if Beckham Jr. can bring the type of magic that's made him one of the league's most electrifying players in the past, this season just got a whole lot more interesting.
