Breaking: Expert Reveals One Law That Could Change the Lives of Millions of Nigerians Forever

September 13, 2024

The IREDE Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities, has issued a pressing call to action for both the Federal and State Governments to take immediate steps towards fully implementing the disability law.

According to Mrs. Crystal Chigbu, the founder of The IREDE Foundation, the full implementation of the disability law will unlock a world of possibilities for children with disabilities, enabling them to have equal access to all rights and privileges enjoyed by other children.

The call to action was made during the handover partnership, where Mrs. Chigbu emphasized the importance of inclusive budgeting for children with disabilities. This, she explained, is crucial in ensuring that these children have equal opportunities to access quality education, healthcare, and social services.

The IREDE Foundation's appeal is rooted in the understanding that children with disabilities are often marginalized and excluded from mainstream society. This can lead to a perpetuation of the cycle of poverty, as these children are often denied access to the very resources and services that would enable them to reach their full potential.

Furthermore, the organization is advocating for the inclusion of disability-friendly infrastructure in public spaces, schools, and healthcare facilities. This would enable children with disabilities to fully participate in their communities and access essential services without fear of exclusion or marginalization.

The IREDE Foundation's efforts are aimed at creating a more inclusive society that values the contributions of all individuals, regardless of ability. By implementing the disability law and promoting inclusive budgeting, the organization believes that Nigeria can take a significant step towards becoming a more equitable and just society.

As the government continues to grapple with the issue of disability rights, The IREDE Foundation's call to action serves as a timely reminder of the urgent need for action. Only through the collective efforts of governments, NGOs, and individuals can we hope to create a brighter future for children with disabilities and ensure that they have an equal place in society.
