Paul Pogba and Juventus are on the verge of parting ways once and for all, bringing an end to a tumultuous and injury-plagued chapter in the midfielder's career. The Frenchman was initially signed by Juventus in July 2021 on a four-year deal worth 8 million euros per season, plus an additional signing-on fee of 1.5 million euros. However, Pogba's time at Juventus has been marred by repeated injuries, restricting him to just 22 appearances across all competitions.
As Juventus navigates through a period of financial restraints and regulatory pressures, terminating Pogba's contract has emerged as a shrewd move financially. By parting ways with the French midfielder, Juventus stands to save 8 million euros, which could go a long way in balancing their books. Moreover, this release also signals Juventus's commitment to revamping their team and getting rid of underperforming players.
At 30 years old, Pogba was supposed to be in the prime of his career when he rejoined Juventus. However, his persistent injury issues have hindered his progress and denied the Bianconeri a player who can dominate games on his day. Disappointingly for Juventus fans, Pogba's second stint at the club never quite lived up to the hype surrounding his return.
In Pogba, Juventus loses a talented but injury-prone midfielder who has demonstrated an inability to adapt to the demands of Serie A. His release would be seen as an opportunity for other Juventus midfielders to seize their chance, and it remains to be seen who Juventus sign as his replacement.
Pogba's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, earlier revealed his desire to leave Juventus and was unhappy with how the Frenchman's situation was handled by the Bianconeri. A parting of ways became seemingly inevitable from that point onwards. For Pogba, the priority will now be getting his fitness levels up and looking for a club where he can rediscover his form and start contributing to his team like he once did.
