Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua has been appointed as the Sports Ambassador of Ogun State by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The boxer who recently lost his title to Oleksandr Usyk paid a courtesy visit to the governor at his office in Abeokuta.
Joshua was accompanied by some of his family members during the courtesy visit where he was received by the governor and his deputy.
The governor described Joshua as a role model and a source of inspiration to the youths in the state and Nigeria at large.
He said Joshua s appointment as the Sports Ambassador of the state was to further inspire the youths to aim high in their chosen careers.
The governor also pledged to support the growth and development of sports in the state.
Joshua in his response thanked the governor for the appointment and pledged to use his position to promote the state and its people.
He also called on the youths in the state to be disciplined and hardworking in their pursuit of greatness.
The Nigerian-British boxer is known for his humility and love for his root which was evident in the way he was dressed in full Yoruba attire during the visit.
The appointment of Joshua as the Sports Ambassador of Ogun State is expected to boost the morale of the youths in the state and inspire them to aim high in their chosen careers.
