It is a sad day for party-goers, foodies, and culture enthusiasts as Bonifacio Global City’s (BGC) nightlife and entertainment hub, The Fort Strip, announced its indefinite closure at the start of the year. The Fort Strip, which is a popular weekend destination for many, was known for its unique line of bars, restaurants, and comedy clubs. Its unique vibe and offerings could be found nowhere else in the sprawling metropolitan city of Manila.
What was once a bustling nightspot for those looking to unwind is now on the verge of fading into memory. Establishments like The Fort Strip played a significant role in turning BGC into a go-to place for a night of revelry, comedy, and various entertainment. In fact, The Fort Strip will always be remembered as the brainchild behind some of Manila’s unique nightclubs and restaurants. The news of its indefinite closure has left patrons searching for alternatives in a city that is constantly reinventing itself and pushing boundaries in entertainment and dining experiences.
BGC was always more than just another business district in Manila. It was a symbol of lifestyle, entertainment, and culture that coexisted in perfect balance. In recent years, this has also included an increasingly diverse food scene, including both high-end, modern dining experiences and casual food parks. However, The Fort Strip was one such place that held a special place in the hearts of BGC residents and its patrons.
Nightlife can be fleeting in metropolitan cities like Manila. Locations that are once considered hotspots can fade away in a matter of time. Very rarely does a place manage to reinvent itself and stay relevant in a city where urban development goes as fast as anywhere else in the world. The Fort Strip will now join the list of defunct Manila nightspots, leaving its loyal followers with nothing but memories of their favorite nights spent in this iconic location.
It is unfortunate that such an important landmark in the Manila nightlife scene will have to close down indefinitely, leaving party-goers without their monthly fix of revelry and their restaurant and bar-finding expeditions to make The Fort Strip their weekend home. Ultimately, partygoers will now have to find a new BGC destination to take the place of this fading hotspot. BGC will need to reinvent itself in order to stay relevant in the ever-changing urban map of metropolitan Manila. As the city evolves so does its identity. And while the closing down of The Fort Strip is a sad reality, new destinations and opportunities will eventually emerge to fill in the gap created by this loss. The hearts and stomachs of Filipino party-goers will always push them to discover and develop fresh experiences to make up for the loss of their beloved The Fort Strip in BGC.
