The Denver Broncos got off to a rare fast start in Los Angeles scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions and building a 21-10 lead over the Chargers But they surrendered a rare free kick field goal as the first half came to a close and their offense went cold in the second half
The Broncos' inability to hold onto a lead has been a recurring theme throughout the season and it was on full display in their latest loss Despite their impressive start the Broncos were unable to sustain any momentum in the second half and their defense was unable to stop the Chargers from mounting a comeback
The loss was a devastating blow to the Broncos' playoff hopes as they were in position to clinch their first playoff berth since 2015 with a win Instead they are now left to pick up the pieces and try to regroup for their next game The Broncos' coaches and players will have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong in the second half and how they can prevent similar breakdowns from happening in the future
One of the main reasons for the Broncos' collapse was their inability to run the ball effectively in the second half After rushing for over 100 yards in the first half the Broncos were unable to gain any traction on the ground in the second half This allowed the Chargers to key on the pass and shut down the Broncos' offense
Another factor that contributed to the Broncos' loss was their poor special teams play The Broncos gave up a rare free kick field goal at the end of the first half which gave the Chargers a much-needed boost of momentum They also struggled to cover kicks and punts allowing the Chargers to start several drives in good field position
Despite the disappointing loss the Broncos are still in the hunt for a playoff spot They will need to regroup and refocus for their next game and come out with a better effort if they hope to make a deep run in the postseason The Broncos have shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season but they have been unable to sustain any consistency
The Broncos' coaches and players will have to take a long hard look at themselves and figure out what they need to do to turn things around They will need to make some adjustments and come up with a new game plan if they hope to succeed in their next game The Broncos have the talent and the potential to make a deep run in the playoffs but they will need to start playing more consistently if they hope to achieve their goals
