The Washington Commanders handed the Cleveland Browns their worst loss of the season on Sunday, dominating in a 34-13 victory that dropped Cleveland to 1-4. The Browns, who were considered one of the top contenders in the AFC North, were left reeling after a dismal performance against the Commanders.
From the opening kickoff, it was clear that the Commanders were on a mission to make a statement. They came out strong, with quarterback Sam Howell leading the charge. Howell threw for over 200 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for another score.
The Browns, on the other hand, struggled to get anything going on offense. Quarterback P.J. Walker was under pressure all day, and was unable to make any significant plays down the field. The Browns' running game was also non-existent, with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt being held to just a handful of yards.
The Commanders' defense was the real story of the day, however. They were able to shut down the Browns' offense and force several turnovers, including a pair of interceptions. The defense also sacked Walker multiple times, making it difficult for the Browns to sustain any kind of rhythm.
The loss was a tough one for the Browns, who had been hoping to bounce back from a tough loss last week. Instead, they found themselves on the wrong end of a blowout. The Commanders, on the other hand, were ecstatic about their dominant performance.
"We played a great game today," said Howell in his post-game press conference. "Our defense was incredible, and our offense was able to make some big plays. We're feeling confident right now, and we're looking forward to carrying this momentum into next week."
The Browns, meanwhile, will have to regroup and try to figure out what went wrong. They have a tough schedule ahead of them, and they'll need to start winning soon if they want to stay in contention.
"We just didn't play well today," said Browns coach Kevin Stefanski. "We made some mistakes, and we didn't execute. We'll have to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to get better."
The Commanders will look to keep their winning streak alive next week, while the Browns will try to bounce back from a tough loss. It's shaping up to be an interesting season in the NFL, and fans will be eager to see what happens next.
