Australia's live lamb cutting industry has just met its match as two prominent celebrities join forces to save millions of adorable lambs from a cruel and gruesome fate.
Danielle Macdonald, star of 'Dumplin'' and 'Patti Cake$', and Scott Evans, actor and cousin of Chris Evans, are set to lend their voices to an animated short that reveals the harsh reality of the live lamb cutting industry.
As part of the 'Be Their Voice' campaign, launched by animal rights activist organization 'Animals Australia', the short film promises to expose the facts of an industry that slices open millions of baby lambs every year for fleece. The graphic practice not only leaves the young sheep exposed to heat and infection but often results in the loss of countless lives due to stress and predation.
The campaign, already gaining steam online, sees Macdonald and Evans joining the effort to raise awareness about this seemingly inhumane and archaic practice.
'By lending my voice to this cause, I hope that people around the globe will be moved to take action to stop the unnecessary suffering of lambs in the Australian live export industry,' Danielle Macdonald expressed in support of the endeavour.
Animals Australia reports astonishing numbers of as many as 10 million sheep affected each year. Backing their assertion, 'It's all part of what the wool industry considers 'normal practice' when mulesing sheep.' The harsh effects, resulting from the often-blunt cuts leading to infection and great pain for the young lambs.
When speaking on the topic, Scott Evans adds: 'That people still allow innocent animals to suffer for trivial human items such as fleeces disappoints me greatly. I implore viewers to consider every wool product's costs on animal welfare.' Animations from the animated short demonstrate graphically why mulesing of sheep should become an out-dated and utterly redundant practice within our societies.
Lamb supporters across the world understand clearly all parts Animals Australia had undergone for shedding light on to this dark world that would otherwise remain totally obscured. Though it's getting much necessary exposure, all this can't have occurred soon enough.
