LONDON, Dec 28 — Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said it is not realistic to suffer just one Premier League defeat every two months and urged his players to bounce back from their shocking loss to Fulham when they face Ipswich in their next match.
Maresca’s comments came after Chelsea’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage, a result that has raised questions about the team’s title aspirations.
Speaking to reporters, Maresca expressed his disappointment with the outcome and acknowledged that his side had not performed to their usual standards.
“We are not happy with the result, and we know we can do better,” Maresca said. “We had our chances, but we couldn’t capitalize on them. It’s a tough league, and we need to be consistent if we want to achieve our goals.
“It’s not realistic to think that we can only lose one game every two months. We need to be prepared to face tough opponents every week and give our best performance if we want to succeed.
“The players are aware of what is expected of them, and we will work hard to improve our game and come back stronger in the next match.”
Chelsea’s loss to Fulham has left them trailing behind the league leaders, and they will need to regroup quickly if they want to keep their title hopes alive.
Their next match against Ipswich will be a crucial test of their character and resolve, and Maresca is confident that his players have the quality and determination to bounce back from their recent setback.
“We have a talented squad, and we are capable of beating any team in the league,” Maresca said. “We just need to focus on our game and make sure we execute our plan to perfection.
“Ipswich will be a tough opponent, but we are ready for the challenge. We will go into the match with a positive attitude and look to get the three points that we need to get back on track.
“The fans have been great, and we appreciate their support. We will do everything we can to make them proud and get the result that we all want.”
Chelsea’s match against Ipswich is scheduled to take place at Portman Road, and the Blues will be looking to make a statement and prove that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
