Cowboys Kicker Brandon Aubrey Forced to Serve Jury Duty But Has 1 Thing on His Mind

October 25, 2024

The Dallas Cowboys are just a few days away from their highly-anticipated showdown against the San Francisco 49ers, but one of their key players has found himself in a rather unexpected situation. Brandon Aubrey, the team's kicker, was recently summoned for jury duty, which has forced him to miss the first two practices of the week.

However, despite this unexpected twist, the Cowboys are still expecting Aubrey to be available for their upcoming game in San Francisco. According to Coach Mike McCarthy, Aubrey has been working diligently to ensure he doesn't fall behind his teammates, even if it means putting in extra hours later in the day.

'He's getting his work in, but he's just doing it a little later than everybody else,' McCarthy explained. 'We're just trying to make sure he's prepared and ready to go for the game.'

While it's not uncommon for NFL players to get called for jury duty, it's certainly not ideal, especially during the middle of the season. However, Aubrey seems to be taking it in stride, knowing that it's his civic duty to serve. The Cowboys are also doing their part to ensure that he's able to fulfill his obligations as a juror while also being prepared for their upcoming game.

The team's coaching staff has been working closely with Aubrey to develop a modified practice schedule that accommodates his jury duty. This includes conducting extra sessions later in the day, allowing him to get the work he needs without compromising his role as a juror.

'We're just trying to make sure we're covering all our bases,' McCarthy said. 'We want to make sure Brandon is prepared for the game, but we also want to make sure he's able to fulfill his obligations as a juror.'

While Aubrey's jury duty may be a minor distraction for the Cowboys, it's clear that the team is determined to make it work. With a key game against the 49ers just around the corner, the Cowboys will need all hands on deck if they hope to come away with a victory. Fortunately, it seems as though Aubrey will be ready to go, jury duty and all.
