_CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC): _Despite being thoroughly outplayed by England in the first two T20 Internationals, West Indies’ white-ball head coach Daren Sammy believes the home side has the necessary manpower to pull off a comeback victory in the highly-anticipated series.
The West Indies’ team has been struggling to find their rhythm in the shortest format of the game, and their performance in the first two T20Is against England was a testament to their current form. However, Daren Sammy remains optimistic about his team’s chances of turning the series around.
"I truly believe that we have the manpower to win this series," Sammy said in a press conference ahead of the third T20I. "We just need to get a few things right and play to our potential. We can’t afford to make the same mistakes that we did in the first two games."
Sammy’s comments come as a surprise to many, given the team’s dismal performance in the series so far. England has dominated the West Indies in all departments of the game, and their lead in the series is a reflection of their superior performance.
However, Sammy is adamant that his team can turn things around and pull off a stunning comeback victory. He pointed out that the West Indies have a talented pool of players who are capable of beating any team on their day.
"We have a talented group of players who can match any team in the world," Sammy said. "We just need to bring our A-game to the table and play with passion and pride. If we can do that, I’m confident that we can win the series."
The West Indies’ team has been working hard in the nets to rectify their mistakes and improve their performance. Sammy is hopeful that the hard work will pay off in the remaining matches of the series.
"We’ve been working hard in the nets, trying to iron out our mistakes and improve our performance," Sammy said. "I’m confident that the hard work will pay off in the end. We just need to stay focused and keep believing in ourselves."
