September 9th marked a significant day for Destiny fans, as Bungie took the stage to announce several changes to the content structure of Destiny 2. The reveal was undoubtedly exciting, but what seemed to steal the spotlight was an unexpected teaser – an exclusive Exotic sniper rifle from the original Destiny game that would soon make its way to the sequel. The Exotic in question is none other than the beloved Ice Breaker, an incredibly unique rifle with some quite memorable features.
The original Ice Breaker came equipped with some attributes that stuck it out as a fan-favorite among players, and it seems its reappearance in the sequel has left everyone looking forward to the upcoming Dungeon that it is supposed to debut with. News about this new Dungeon has been rather thin, even post-announcement. However, the appearance of the Ice Breaker in the recent 10th Anniversary key art seemed somewhat revealing, and Bungie attempted to explain the decision to include the Exotic rifle with their key art for a decade-old game.
The sniper rifle itself holds several distinct features. It's exceptional in the sense that its ammunition steadily regenerates but never surpasses its designated clip capacity. Furthermore, players don't have the usual liberty of replenishing their ammunition as regular means don't function for the Ice Breaker. Nevertheless, an inbuilt feature in Ice Breaker has the power to change things in an instant; a fascinating aspect that keeps players rooting for it till date – the possibility of replenishing your lost ammunition on making a kill, accompanied by a slight probability of enemies combusting in their instant of death – somewhat preeminently seen in its aftermath today through the now ever-famous Firefly Perk feature.
Our source managed to land upon a statement that goes to hint a confirmation that Bungie's community does not consider it as a rumor. In their statement for September 9th's revealing news, they did indeed imply upon – the prospect of Ice Breaker getting rejuvenated. We can further sense Bungie looking for confirming the authenticity – by how they're making claims like they wouldn't reveal more than they planned to. However, an assurance in an improved way added about letting out additional details at possibly an impending date.
As to how Destiny's Global lead discovered an Ice Breaker in their tenth-anniversary artwork, they too dropped by a claim. While sharing the image – confirming once again – that they never expected their primary image artwork to leak Ice Breaker, this appears to raise more curiosity on parts of viewers, too, ultimately setting a probable launch in near future, ahead of further notices.
The new Dungeons, paired with other similar experiences, undoubtedly sets up for anticipation around upcoming events related to Destiny and at this point of revelation – Destiny truly comes up with a new definition of the word 'new' due to the rebirth of one exotic rifle.
