Disney Star SLAMMED for Blasting Trump - Is Her Career Over?

November 15, 2024

The star of Disney's updated, live-action version of Snow White is facing intense backlash on social media after voicing her disappointment following the results of the US election, leaving many to wonder if her career with the family-friendly franchise is on shaky ground.

Rachel Zegler, who also starred as Maria in the critically acclaimed West Side Story remake and took on the role of Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, has found herself at the center of a maelstrom after sharing her thoughts on the presidential election on social media.

The young actress took to her social media account to express her sadness and disappointment with the outcome, sparking an outpouring of support from fans who share her views, but also stirring up outrage from those who did not.

Conservative supporters of former US President Trump immediately blasted Zegler for her comments, labeling her a 'Hillary snowflake' and accusing her of being 'out of touch' with the American public. Some have even called for her to be fired by Disney, citing her supposed anti-conservative views.

However, this sort of criticism from Trump voters has apparently become an unfortunate norm in the current landscape of US politics. For an increasing number of actors, musicians, and public figures, expressing an opinion on their preferred candidates has been enough to secure backlash and online abuse from those on the opposite side.

Many within the entertainment industry fear this could potentially be damaging for Zegler's future prospects. This growing, increasingly polarized and unpredictable atmosphere threatens to silence free expression by intimidating actors and actresses from sharing opinions they've earned the right to express.

Others believe Disney will stand by Zegler despite the controversy. A recent statement issued by Disney appears to support this view, with a representative saying that the entertainment giant values inclusivity, diversity, and promoting 'free thought and perspectives.' The entertainment company has stopped short of addressing Zegler's social media posts directly.

This raises more questions than answers about where future boundaries will be set and whose voices are deemed worthy of protection in the highly competitive entertainment industry.
