Richard Hatch, one of the original Survivor contestants, is speaking out about his experience on the show. Hatch, who was the very first winner of the series, has often been misunderstood by fans and has been labeled as one of the biggest villains in reality TV history. However, in a recent interview, Hatch insists that he was not as evil as he was portrayed on the show.
'I was just playing the game,' Hatch explained. 'I was doing what I had to do to win. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone or cause any harm, I was just trying to outsmart and outmaneuver my opponents.'
Despite his efforts to set the record straight, Hatch admits that he has been hurt by some of the negative feedback he has received from fans over the years. 'It's tough to hear people say that you're a bad person or that you're evil,' he said. 'But at the end of the day, I know who I am and I know that I'm not a bad person. I'm just someone who played a game and won.'
Hatch also discussed who he has been impressed by on the show, citing players like Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine. 'Those are two players who truly understand the game and know how to play it,' he said. 'They're not afraid to make big moves and take risks, and that's what it takes to win.'
When asked if he would ever consider returning to the show, Hatch didn't rule it out. 'I never say never,' he said with a smile. 'If the right opportunity came along, I would definitely consider it. But for now, I'm happy with my decision to move on and focus on other things.'
