Florida Under Water: One Million Affected As Hurricane Milton Unleashes Hell

October 10, 2024

Hurricane Milton has made landfall in Florida, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The category storm brought with it torrential rains and powerful gusts that have left at least a million people affected in the US state.

On October 10, Hurricane Milton rolled into Florida, threatening homes, businesses and the livelihood of millions. The storm, which has been described as one of the most powerful in years, has prompted a state of emergency to be declared.

The National Weather Service issued warnings for tropical storm-force winds and rain, with residents advised to stay indoors until the storm has passed. The warnings were accompanied by stark images from space, which showed the sheer scale of the storm system.

The Florida Governor’s office confirmed that a million people had been affected by the storm, with widespread power outages and evacuations reported. At least 150,000 homes have been left without power, with more expected as the storm continues to move across the state.

Debris was scattered across roads and buildings, causing flooding and making travel extremely hazardous. Meanwhile, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) stated that it was on the ground to support state and local emergency responders in the affected areas.

Hurricane Milton, while a relatively late-season storm, serves as a stark reminder of the risk and danger of hurricanes. Despite the best efforts of disaster management officials, hurricanes remain a significant threat to human life and the economy.

The Sunshine State’s residents will be bracing for further disruptions as the storm slowly makes its way out of the state. With assessments currently underway, it is too early to determine the full extent of the damage.

It can be confirmed that life in Florida will not return to normal until the waters have receded and the full picture of damage is clear.
