Former Creamline Star Risa Sato Spotted with Chery Tiggo Squad Amidst Transfer Rumors

January 11, 2025

MANILA, Philippines — In a shocking turn of events, former Creamline middle blocker Risa Sato has been spotted with the Chery Tiggo squad, sparking intense speculation about her potential transfer to the team. The 30-year-old volleyball star, known for her incredible skills on the court, had announced her departure from Creamline last November, leaving fans and followers stunned.

Sato had penned a heartfelt letter, confirming the end of her six-year stay with the 10-time champion squad. The letter, which was posted on social media, expressed her gratitude for the journey she had with Creamline and the memories she had made with the team. However, her surprise exit had left many wondering what was next for the talented middle blocker.

Now, with photos circulating online of Sato having lunch with the Chery Tiggo squad during the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) holiday break, it seems that the rumors of her transfer to the team may be true. Although there has been no official confirmation from Chery Tiggo, Sato's championship pedigree would undoubtedly be a great addition to the Crossovers, who are currently ranked fourth in the standings with a 4-1 win-loss card.

If Sato were to join Chery Tiggo, she would be playing alongside team captain Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, and Ces Robles, among others. She would also bolster the middle-blocker list of the squad, which currently includes Cza Carandang and Seth Rodriguez. With Imee Hernandez still recovering from her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, Sato's presence would be a welcome boost to the team.

According to PVL rules, teams can finalize their roster until January 17, as long as the player was not included in the lineup before the conference begins. This means that Sato, who was not added to the Creamline lineup, is free to play for a new team. This is in contrast to the cases of Ces Molina and Riri Meneses, who had already played for Cignal before announcing their exit.

PVL commissioner Sherwin Malonzo clarified the rules, stating, 'You can add players until January 17, but you cannot remove or change.' This clears the way for Sato to potentially join Chery Tiggo, although an official announcement has yet to be made.

Chery Tiggo is set to face Petro Gazz in its first game of the year on January 21, and the addition of Sato to the team could be a game-changer. Fans of the Crossovers are eagerly awaiting official confirmation of Sato's transfer, and the possibility of seeing her in action with the team has generated immense excitement.

As the PVL season continues to heat up, the transfer of Risa Sato to Chery Tiggo could be one of the most significant developments in the league. With her incredible talent and experience, Sato is sure to make a significant impact on the team, and fans can't wait to see what the future holds for the Crossovers.
