Pep Guardiola expressed confidence in Manchester City's prospects despite the team's recent struggles, pinning their hopes on the upcoming fixtures.
"We have two games. We need one point maybe, one victory, the last one is at home, and the situation is because the game against Feyenoord (when City gave up a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3) and especially Inter Milan (a 0-0 draw)," the Spaniard said.
The Manchester City manager remains optimistic, knowing that their Champions League destiny hangs in the balance. With two games remaining, City are on the cusp of securing a spot in the knockout stages, but their recent performances have raised eyebrows.
The team's inconsistency has been a concern, with their campaign marred by setbacks against West Ham and Liverpool in the Premier League. However, Guardiola's focus is on the Champions League, where City require a solitary point to advance to the round of 16.
Guardiola believes that their chances of progression are intact, despite their recent form. "We are in a good position. We have two games left, and we can get the points we need," he said.
In a tense encounter against Feyenoord, City squandered a three-goal lead, settling for a 3-3 draw. The result sparked debate, with many questioning the team's defensive vulnerabilities. However, Guardiola remains resolute, knowing that his team's attacking prowess can overcome any defensive shortcomings.
The same applies to their goalless draw against Inter Milan, which saw City create several scoring opportunities but ultimately fail to capitalize. While the result was disappointing, Guardiola took heart from the team's performance, acknowledging that their opponents were well-organized and difficult to break down.
As Manchester City prepare to face their remaining opponents, Guardiola's message remains clear: his team will bounce back and secure their place in the Champions League knockout stages. "We have shown that we can compete at the highest level. We just need to be consistent and take our chances," he said.
City's recent struggles raise questions about their title ambitions, but Guardiola's focus is on the Champions League for now. With two games remaining, the Spanish tactician is confident that his team can turn their fortunes around and make it to the round of 16.
Despite the dip in form, City's fans remain hopeful that their team can revive their campaign and make a deep run in the Champions League. As Guardiola looks to steer his team back on track, one thing is certain: Manchester City's prospects are under scrutiny, but their manager remains resolute in his pursuit of European glory.
