Hawkeyes Reunite: Caitlin Clark and Co. Spotted Cheering on the Gridiron

October 30, 2024

Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin, and several of their 2023-24 Iowa Hawkeyes teammates made headlines over the weekend as they gathered in Iowa for a highly anticipated reunion.

The group of former Hawkeyes women’s basketball stars decided to put their basketball rivalry on hold temporarily and come together to support their school’s football team instead. On Saturday, they met at the iconic Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City to show their spirit and cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes as they faced off against Northwestern.

Legendary guard Caitlin Clark, who spent many years at Iowa University before making a name for herself in the basketball world, is known for her unrelenting passion and energy both on and off the court. As expected, Clark did not disappoint and was one of the most enthusiastic supporters at the Hawkeyes game. The star point guard took to social media to share some memories from the get-together, where she was accompanied by the likes of sharpshooter Kate Martin.

The game at Kinnick Stadium saw many memorable moments as the Iowa Hawkeyes football team fought valiantly against Northwestern. Even though the Iowa Hawkeyes lost to the Wildcats 24-6, Clark, Martin, and their friends from the women’s basketball team enjoyed every minute of it, cheering on their college team with pride and laughter.

This unexpected reunion served as a wonderful tribute to the unwavering bond and camaraderie shared among Iowa Hawkeyes teammates and students alike. From celebrating milestones and forging lifelong friendships to finding ways to come together in support of their beloved teams even after hanging up their college jerseys, the ex-Hawkeyes basketball stars exemplified how deep and profound their emotional connections were, giving their fans an added reason to love them even more.

Though the focus has somewhat shifted from their individual pursuits in basketball as professional athletes, Clark, Martin, and company are never far away from their Hawkeyes roots. It was delightful to see this group of accomplished sports personalities coming together in unity for a day of football, friends, and nostalgia, while at the same time reinforcing the fact that though individual pursuits and life paths can vary, when Hawkeyes come together as one, nothing is more extraordinary.
