Hicks Steals the Show: UNLV RunawayVictors in 80-59 Thrashing of Pepperdine!

November 21, 2024

LAS VEGAS (AP) — On a night that was expected to be closely contested, the UNLV Rebels dominated the Pepperdine Waves 80-59 in a matchup that saw Brooklyn Hicks come off the bench to score a game-high 16 points.

The Rebels were firing on all cylinders from the opening tip-off, taking a commanding lead that they would never relinquish. With Hicks providing a much-needed spark off the bench, UNLV was able to keep the pressure on and never allowed Pepperdine to mount a serious comeback.

Hicks' performance was impressive, to say the least. The reserve player's 16 points were a welcome addition to the UNLV offense, which had been struggling to find consistency in recent games. But on this night, with Hicks leading the charge, the Rebels looked like a well-oiled machine.

While Hicks was the star of the show, he was by no means the only UNLV player to have a big game. The Rebels had several players score in double figures, including some notable performances from the starting lineup.

But despite the impressive all-around effort from UNLV, the real story of the game was Hicks' incredible performance off the bench. In just 20 minutes of action, Hicks was able to score 16 points and grab a few rebounds, while also bringing a level of energy and enthusiasm to the game that was noticeably missing from the Pepperdine side.

As for the Waves, they were unable to find any semblance of rhythm or consistency on either end of the floor. Despite having a few bright moments, Pepperdine was ultimately unable to keep up with the high-flying Rebels, who were determined to come away with the win.

In the end, it was a convincing victory for UNLV, who improves to a 5-2 record on the season. For Pepperdine, the loss drops them to 2-5 and leaves them searching for answers on how to turn their season around.

The Rebels will look to build on this momentum as they take on their next opponent, while Pepperdine will attempt to regroup and refocus before their next game. As for Hicks, he'll be looking to continue his impressive play and help lead UNLV to even greater heights.
