WATERLOO — Tuesday's clash between the Poynette Pumas and the Waterloo Pirates in girls basketball ended in a lopsided affair as the Pumas pounced on the Pirates 90-46 in a dominating display. The battle was won on the back of stellar performances from the Pumas' high-powered offense.
The real standout was Avalyn Albrecht who came through with an impressive showing, leading four players into double-digit scoring. With a remarkable 22 points to her name, Albrecht stole the spotlight in a near-flawless display that left the crowd in awe. Her game-high 22 points took the shine off the hapless Pirates' attempts to shore up their defense.
The Pirates struggled to make an impact, searching desperately for ways to stem the flow of points but ultimately ending up on the back foot. Their defense was ripped apart time and again, while on the flip side, the Pumas' attack seemed almost unstoppable.
Albrecht's teammates too chipped in crucially to further pile on the agony for their counterparts. Overall, four players hit double figures which painted a clear picture of just how one-sided the match was. At 90-46 in favor of the Pumas, there can be no denying the chasmic difference in talent that was on full display that night.
