J'Wan Roberts scored a game- and season-high 22 points as No. 10 Houston extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 32 games with a 70-54 win against West Virginia on Wednesday.
L.J. Cryer scored 18 points and Emmanuel Sharp added 13 points for the Cougars, who improved to 18-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12 Conference. Houston has not lost at home since March 2021 and has won 45 of its last 46 games at the Fertitta Center.
Roberts, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, made 9 of 12 shots from the field and had seven rebounds to help the Cougars dominate the Mountaineers. He had 14 points in the first half, including 10 in the final 4:24, as Houston built a 37-25 lead at the break.
Houston, which is ranked 10th in the country, will look to extend its home winning streak on Saturday when it hosts Tulsa. West Virginia will try to bounce back when it hosts Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Cougars, under the guidance of head coach Kelvin Sampson, have been one of the most dominant teams in college basketball this season. With a strong defense and balanced offense, they have been able to overpower opponents and win games convincingly.
