Hugh Jackman Reveals Wolverine Horror Moment On Set And It's Still Giving Him Nightmares

September 16, 2024

Hugh Jackman, the iconic actor behind Wolverine, has been opening up about his experiences on the set of the original X-Men movies. In a recent interview, Jackman recalled a terrifying moment that still haunts him to this day - the time he was actually stabbed by his own character's sharp adamantium claws.

According to Jackman, the incident occurred during filming for one of the earlier X-Men movies. At the time, the special effects team was still working on perfecting the look of Wolverine's claws. The result was that the claws were made extremely sharp, which led to some mishaps on set.

During one take, Jackman's stunt double managed to accidentally stab him with the sharp claws. While the injury was not severe, it was enough to cause some major discomfort and worry for the actor.

'It was a pretty shocking moment,' Jackman recalled in the interview. 'I was in the middle of a scene and suddenly I felt this sharp pain in my side. The next thing I knew, my stunt double was apologizing profusely and the whole crew was rushing to my aid.'

Fortunately for Jackman, the wound was not severe and he managed to make a full recovery. However, the incident left a lasting impact on him, and he still remembers the shock and pain he felt that day.

The incident highlights the risks and challenges that actors face on set every day. Despite the best-laid plans and precautions, accidents can still happen. But for Jackman, the experience only added to the authenticity of his performance as Wolverine.

'It was a minor setback, but it actually ended up adding to the realism of the scene,' Jackman explained. 'My reaction was genuine, and it helped bring the character to life in a way that I couldn't have planned.'

The original X-Men movies were a groundbreaking moment for comic book fans and superhero movies. Wolverine's sharp claws were an iconic part of his character, and the movie's success paved the way for future X-Men movies and spin-offs.

For Jackman, the experience of playing Wolverine was a defining moment in his career. The role helped establish him as a leading actor and cemented his place in the world of comic book movies.

Despite the risks and challenges, Jackman looks back on his time as Wolverine with fond memories. The incident with the sharp claws was just one of many moments that made the experience unforgettable.
