Iran on The Brink: UN Nuclear Chief Rushes to Tehran as War Looms

The head of the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog announced that he will travel to Iran in the coming days to hold talks regarding the country’s nuclear program. This visit comes at a critical moment in time as tensions in the Middle East escalate, particularly with the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has heightened worries that Iran might increase its nuclear activities, thus posing a potential threat to the global community.

Iranian officials have been pushing for the lifting of sanctions, citing the economic pressure exerted by these sanctions as a major reason for not being able to curtail its production of enriched uranium to levels agreed to during nuclear negotiations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized the deal with Iran in the past and has also threatened the use of military force if Iran resorts to further nuclear activities.

Trump will be addressing his pro-Israeli allies with the looming election, to further complicate and strengthen the hand of the Israeli Prime Minister thereby fuelling more tension.
