Jaguars Are Taking Over London - Will Trevor Lawrence Keep His Win Streak Going?

October 12, 2024

The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting ready to take on the Chicago Bears in London on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET. This matchup marks the second time in as many weeks that the Jaguars will be taking the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, following their hard-fought 23-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

The win marked the first of the season for the Jaguars, and also served as the first victory in 10 starts for young quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence, the first overall pick in the 2021 draft, has been steadily improving each week, showing flashes of brilliance and poise under pressure.

Despite the early struggles, the Jaguars are beginning to find their footing under head coach Doug Pederson, with a renewed focus on ball control and a stifling defense that has allowed just 20 points in their last two games combined. The offense, meanwhile, has been consistently efficient, with Lawrence using his legs and arm to extend plays and create scoring opportunities.

But the Bears are no slouches either, boasting a strong running game led by talented backs Khalil Herbert and Trestan Ebner. Chicago also boasts a stingy defense that has given up just 14.5 points per game, helped in large part by the stellar play of safety Eddie Jackson. The Bears' ability to limit their opponents' scoring opportunities will likely be the key to success in this matchup.

Given the rugged play of both teams, fans are expecting a physical, hard-hitting contest that could go either way. This is especially true given the unique surroundings of the game, which takes place in London. The UK's fervent NFL fan base has been growing steadily in recent years, and the unique time difference may serve to add an extra layer of excitement to what will likely already be an electric atmosphere.
