No one would accuse Kings of Leon of being a party band. They are KOL, not KC and the Sunshine Band, after all. But the mood at the Saturday, Oct. 5 concert in Bridgeport definitely was more reflective of the title of its latest album, “Can We Please Have Fun” than the band’s last performance in the same city.
The sold-out crowd at the Webster Bank Arena was treated to a high-energy show that showcased the band’s ability to craft infectious and catchy rock songs. From the opening chords of the first song, it was clear that this was going to be a special night. The band’s lead singer, Caleb Followill, commanded the stage with his signature growl and swagger, working the crowd into a frenzy with every song.
The setlist was a perfect mix of old and new, with the band playing hits like “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire” alongside new tracks from the latest album. The crowd sang along to every word, and the band fed off their energy, playing with a renewed sense of purpose and passion.
One of the highlights of the night was the band’s performance of their latest single, “Night is Young”. The song’s catchy chorus and driving beat had the crowd dancing in the aisles, and the band’s energetic performance brought the house down. Another standout moment was the band’s rendition of their classic hit, “Molly’s Chambers”. The song’s raw energy and infectious hooks had the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs.
Throughout the night, the band’s musicianship was on full display. The guitar work was impeccable, with Matthew Followill’s solos adding an extra layer of depth and complexity to the songs. The rhythm section, consisting of Jared Followill on bass and Nathan Followill on drums, provided a solid foundation for the band’s sound, driving the music forward with precision and power.
Overall, Kings of Leon’s concert in Bridgeport was an unforgettable experience. The band’s ability to craft catchy and infectious rock songs, combined with their high-energy live performance, made for a truly special night. If you missed the show, do not worry – the band is sure to bring their unique blend of rock and roll to a city near you soon. So, be sure to get your tickets and experience the fun for yourself.
