Legendary Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney Set for Emotional Showdown with Protégé

(AP) — Tony Elliott was a walk-on graduate receiver in 2003 who finally thought he'd have a chance for more playing time at Clemson when his position coach left and in walked a young, energetic assistant in Dabo Swinney. Unbeknownst to Elliott at the time, his football career was about to take an unexpected turn for the better, one that would ultimately see him become one of the finest coaches in the business.

Fast forward nearly two decades, and Elliott now finds himself facing his longtime mentor and friend Dabo Swinney as he leads Virginia against Clemson this weekend. It's a matchup that has sparked plenty of emotions, not just for Elliott and Swinney, but for the entire Clemson community.

Swinney, who took over as Clemson's head coach in 2008, proudly reflects on the incredible journey Elliott has been on.
