BERLIN (AP) — In a heart-stopping clash that saw five goals scored in the second half, Omar Marmoush proved to be the difference-maker for Eintracht Frankfurt as they managed to snatch a thrilling 3-3 draw against the mighty Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Sunday.
The Egyptian international was instrumental in Frankfurt's fightback, scoring two vital goals, including a dramatic late equalizer that left Bayern's defenders stunned and their fans heartbroken.
The two teams got off to a quiet start, with both sides struggling to find their rhythm in the first half. The opening 45 minutes saw few clear-cut chances created, with Bayern dominating possession but lacking a cutting edge.
However, the match sprang to life after the break as the hosts took the lead through Jamal Musiala's stunning strike from outside the box. The teenage sensation's powerful effort left Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp with no chance, and Bayern thought they had finally broken the deadlock.
But Frankfurt were not about to give up without a fight. Omar Marmoush started the comeback with a clinical finish from a well-worked move, leveling the scores with just over 20 minutes left to play.
The match then descended into chaos as both teams created chance after chance, with Bayern eventually regaining the lead through a Thomas Müller header. The veteran striker's aerial acrobatics sent the Bayern faithful into raptures, but Marmoush was far from done.
The Egyptian struck again in the dying minutes of the match, rising highest in the box to meet a cross and clinically dispatching a powerful header past Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The visitors' fans erupted into jubilation as Marmoush celebrated his second goal with his teammates.
The draw sees Frankfurt strengthen their grip on a European spot, while Bayern will be left to ponder what could have been. Despite the draw, the Bayern players and coaches will take heart from their spirited performance and hope to regroup and refocus for their next encounter.
