Marner Goes Berserk With Hat Trick Performance That Will Leave Hockey Fans Speechless

Mitch Marner notched his third career hat trick with three straight goals within the first two periods and the Toronto Maple Leafs wrecked Todd McLellan's debut as the Los Angeles Kings' coach with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday night. The Maple Leafs dominated the Kings from the start, outshooting them 36-21 and forcing McLellan to pull starting goalie Jonathan Quick in favor of Cal Petersen after the second period.

The Kings looked lackluster in McLellan's first game behind the bench, and they were no match for Marner and the high-powered Maple Leafs offense. After a scoreless first 10 minutes, Marner took over the game with his second consecutive three-goal performance, giving him six goals in his last two games. The right wing's first goal came on a power play, as he finished a rebound from a John Tavares shot.

Marner's second goal came just over two minutes later, as he took a pass from Tavares and fired a wrist shot past Quick's glove. His third goal was the most impressive, as he took a pass from Kasperi Kapanen and deked around Quick before sliding the puck into the empty net. The three goals gave Marner his third career hat trick and his first since Feb. 5, 2020.

The Maple Leafs continued to roll in the third period, adding two more goals to seal the win. The Kings, on the other hand, looked disjointed and frustrated, with several players taking penalties in the final 20 minutes. McLellan's debut was spoiled by Marner's big night, and the Kings will look to bounce back in their next game. The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, will try to keep their offense rolling as they continue their road trip.
