Mars Rover Spots Jaw Dropping Discovery On Lunar New Year

Earth planning date: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025 We’re planning sols 4439 and 4440 on the first day of the Lunar New Year here on Earth, and I’m the Geology/Mineralogy Science Theme Lead for today. The new year is a time for all kinds of abundance and good luck, and we are certainly lucky to be working on Mars, a planet that has held human fascination for centuries.

As the Geology/Mineralogy Science Theme Lead for today, I have the privilege of overseeing the planning and execution of our scientific activities on Mars. Our team has been studying the Martian geology and mineralogy, and we have made some fascinating findings. From the ancient riverbeds to the towering volcanoes, Mars is a planet that is full of mysteries and wonders.

The Mars rover has been equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, allowing us to study the Martian surface in unprecedented detail.
