Meet the 32 Pound Baby Who's Already Got an NFL Team Calling His Name

January 18, 2025

A California-born 6-month-old baby has taken the internet by storm, and the Detroit Lions are already calling "dibs" on the infant, who could be a potential recruit for the team in the future.

Callum Souza, the 6-month-old baby, weighs a whopping 32 pounds and is in the 99th percentile for growth. His mother, Madison Peltzer, posted a viral video of him on TikTok on January 12, which has garnered over 11 million views in just five days.

Peltzer took the video in less than a minute before she, her fiancé Joey Souza, and Callum left for a barbecue. The video shows Callum sitting on a chair, looking huge, and Peltzer remembers Souza saying, "He looks huge," to which she replied, "He is huge."

When Peltzer checked her phone 10 minutes after posting the video, it already had 10,000 views. She was flabbergasted by the response and did not expect the video to go viral so quickly. The comment from the Detroit Lions, which simply said "Dibs," was a surprise to Peltzer, who has never been a huge football person and does not have any connections to the team.

Peltzer made a second video replying to the Lions' comment on January 13, jumping on the "Moto Moto!" trend of pairing videos of adorably chunky babies with a soundbite from "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." That video has currently garnered 1.4 million views.

Callum may look like a linebacker, but his mom is the one doing the hard work at the moment. Peltzer exclusively breastfeeds her son and has to rock him to sleep or hold him to sleep, which she says is quite a workout for her lower back. She notes that though Callum has not tried solid food yet, he already tries to put everything in his mouth.

TODAY.com reached out to the Detroit Lions to inquire about Callum's prospects for their 2043 season, but they did not respond by the time of publication. They are likely busy preparing for their January 18 playoff game against the Washington Commanders.

Peltzer says she will be rooting for her son's potential future team, saying, "Oh, absolutely!" The Detroit Lions may have called "dibs" on Callum, but only time will tell if he will indeed play for the team in the future.
