Messi Tipped for Historic MLS MVP Win and He’s Not the Only Superstar in the Running!

October 25, 2024

No surprise here: Lionel Messi is among the finalists for Major League Soccer’s MVP award for this season. In addition to Messi, Inter Miami teammate Luis Suarez is among five finalists for the Landon Donovan MLS MVP announced on Thursday.

The confirmation comes as no shock to football fans who have been following the incredible journey of the two soccer legends in the United States. This year has been a remarkable season for Inter Miami, thanks to the unbeatable combination of Messi and Suarez on the field. Both players have not only brought back the excitement of soccer to the American public but have also raised interest in the Major League Soccer.

Messi, one of the greatest soccer players of all time, has had a fantastic experience in the MLS this year, where he joined in July. Since then, his incredible skills, dazzling runs, and accurate shots have wowed fans, contributing to a spike in attendance at Inter Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium. As many would expect, his goal-scoring record and other stats this season have earned him recognition, and an MLS MVP would be an icing on the cake for his dream run in America.

The other three finalists include Denis Bouanga of FC Los Angeles, Giorgos Giakoumakis of Atlanta United, and Carles Gil of the New England Revolution. Despite stiff competition from other soccer stars in the MLS, Messi remains the favorite to take home the prestigious award thanks to his exceptional performance.

The Argentinian forward, who has won numerous awards worldwide, is the only player to have won the Ballon d’Or seven times. Though Suarez, his Inter Miami and former FC Barcelona teammate, does not have Messi’s trophy cabinet, he is also one of the greatest soccer players of all time. Suarez, who helped Inter Miami reach the playoffs this season, would be an ideal second choice for the award considering his impressive record and skills on the field.

In the world of soccer, it’s not often that we get to see such experienced players reaching new heights and making history in their careers. Given the impressive feats of both Messi and Suarez, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if either one of them grabs the top honor this time around.
