Meta Connect 2024 is just around the corner, and the tech world is buzzing with excitement. Every year, Meta's fall event brings together the biggest names in the industry to showcase the latest innovations in virtual reality, mixed reality, and artificial intelligence. And this year is expected to be bigger than ever.
According to sources, Meta Connect 2024 will be all about AI and AR. With the launch of Apple's Vision Pro earlier this year, the tech giant is under pressure to demonstrate its own plans for augmented reality. And if Mark Zuckerberg's latest statements are anything to go by, we can expect big things from Meta's AR glasses, codenamed Orion.
The Orion AR glasses are expected to be a major highlight of the event. Unlike the Quest 3, which is a fully immersive VR headset, Orion is designed to look like a normal pair of glasses. But with the ability to layer holographic imagery on top of the real world, these glasses could revolutionize the way we interact with technology.
Zuckerberg has hinted that the glasses are almost ready for primetime, and we can expect to see a prototype version at Meta Connect 2024. But don't expect to be able to buy them just yet - the company is reportedly focusing on building a consumer version rather than selling the prototype.
But that's not all we can expect from Meta Connect 2024. The company is also rumored to be releasing a stripped-down version of the Quest 3, called the Quest 3S. This cheaper variant is expected to be priced at around $300 or $400, making it much more affordable than the current Quest 3.
So why would Meta release a cheaper version of the Quest 3? According to sources, it's all about making life easier for developers. With a huge performance gap between the Quest 3 and the Quest 2, it's difficult for developers to create games that work on both devices. The Quest 3S could bridge that gap, making it easier for developers to create games that scale across multiple price points.
And of course, no Meta Connect event would be complete without some major AI announcements. The company has been investing heavily in AI research, and we can expect to see some exciting new features and capabilities at the event. From improved translation and math capabilities to new AI-powered experiences, Meta is expected to show off its Llama 3.1 large language model in a big way.
Meta Connect 2024 is shaping up to be an event to remember. With its focus on AI, AR, and affordability, the company is clearly positioning itself for the future of technology. Whether you're a developer, a gamer, or just a tech enthusiast, this event is one you won't want to miss.
