METS MAGIC: Pete Alonso UNLEASHES His Fury and Sends Dodgers Packing in EPIC Game 5 Thriller!

October 19, 2024

Pete Alonso golfed an early three-run homer and the New York Mets hammered an ineffective Jack Flaherty, extending the National League Championship Series with a 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5.

The Mets, who were on the verge of elimination, came out swinging in the must-win game. Alonso, the face of the Mets franchise, took center stage and delivered a crushing blow to the Dodgers. His three-run homer in the first inning set the tone for the rest of the game and the Mets never looked back.

Starling Marte had three doubles and a towering home run to cap off a monster performance. His speed and agility allowed him to expertly navigate the basepaths, causing chaos for the Dodgers pitching staff. The Mets’ lineup, which had been quiet for most of the series, finally came alive and poured in 12 runs on 16 hits.

Jack Flaherty, the Dodgers’ starting pitcher, was absolutely dreadful. He surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits in just four innings of work. His inability to limit the Mets’ damage proved to be the deciding factor in the game. The Dodgers bullpen, which had been phenomenal all series, was not much better and allowed an additional five runs in the final five innings.

The Mets, losers of back-to-back games, desperately needed a win to keep their season alive. And with their backs against the wall, they produced arguably their best game of the postseason. The victory has sent the series back to Los Angeles for Game 6, where the Dodgers will look to close out the Mets and advance to their first World Series since 2020.

For the Mets, the win marked their first since Game 1 and snapped a two-game losing streak. They’ll look to keep their momentum going in Game 6 as they seek to force a decisive Game 7. Alonso, who finished the game with three RBIs, was ecstatic about the team’s victory and praised his teammates for their efforts. “We showed what we’re capable of tonight, and we just wanted to extend this season as long as we can,” Alonso said in the post-game interview.
