The Big 12 has officially reached its halfway point, and what a wild ride it’s been. Two teams, in particular, have stolen the show, exceeding everybody’s expectations with their remarkable 6-0 records. The ninth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones and the 13th-ranked BYU Cougars are making a strong case for themselves as top contenders in the league.
Neither of these teams was touted as a preseason favorite, but they’ve managed to turn the Big 12 on its head with their incredible starts to the season. Iowa State, under the leadership of head coach Matt Campbell, has been making waves with their solid team performance. Campbell, who was recently named the Big 12’s top coach, deserves a lot of credit for his team’s success.
One player, in particular, has been making a strong case for himself as the top player in the AP vote – BYU quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders has been phenomenal this season, and his name is already being mentioned in the same breath as some of the top players in the league.
This season’s Big 12 has been full of surprises, and Iowa State and BYU are leading the charge. While some of the more established teams have been struggling to find their footing, these two underdogs have risen to the challenge and proved that they’re a force to be reckoned with.
It’s hard to predict what the rest of the season holds for these two teams, but one thing is certain – they’ve given the Big 12 a much-needed shake-up. As we head into the second half of the season, it’ll be interesting to see if they can keep up their winning ways and make a serious push for the championship.
