Mikel Arteta ERUPTS in Fury: "Daylight Robbery in the Champions League!"

November 7, 2024

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left fuming after his side suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League, with the Spaniard feeling aggrieved over two major penalty decisions that went against his team.

Arteta's side had been performing admirably throughout the match, creating several chances and looking the more dominant side. However, things began to unravel when a soft penalty was awarded to Inter Milan in the dying minutes of the game, allowing the Italian side to snatch a dramatic victory.

Arteta was clearly incensed by the decision, arguing that the penalty was not justified and that his side had been on the receiving end of a "daylight robbery". The Arsenal manager was seen remonstrating with the referee after the full-time whistle, making his discontent clear.

But the penalty controversy didn't stop there. Arteta was also adamant that his side should have been awarded a penalty earlier in the game, citing a clear foul on one of his players. The Arsenal manager felt that the referee's failure to award a spot-kick on that occasion was a major injustice.

The defeat marked a setback for Arsenal's Champions League ambitions, but Arteta will be keen to take the positives from the match. His side's performance was excellent for large parts, and with a bit more luck, they could have easily taken all three points.

However, for now, the attention will be on the two penalty decisions that proved so costly. Arteta's frustration is understandable, but he will have to channel that emotion into a positive response from his side. With several key games coming up, the Arsenal manager needs to keep his players focused and motivated if they are to bounce back from this setback.
