Led by Terri Miller Jr.'s 16 points, the Portland State Vikings defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles 64-59 on Thursday in a closely contested matchup that had fans on the edge of their seats.
The Vikings, who improved to 9-6 with the win, came into the game looking to build on their recent momentum, and they did just that, thanks in large part to Miller's impressive performance.
Miller, who has been a key contributor for the Vikings all season, was virtually unstoppable at times, using his quickness and agility to get around defenders and score easy baskets.
But despite Miller's best efforts, the Eagles refused to go down without a fight, and they trailed by just five points with only a few minutes left to play.
However, the Vikings were able to hold on for the win, thanks to some clutch free throw shooting and tough defense down the stretch.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 5-11 on the season, but they can take some solace in the fact that they were able to hang with one of the top teams in the conference for much of the game.
As for the Vikings, they will look to keep their winning streak going in their next game, and they will be counting on Miller to continue playing at a high level.
With the win, the Vikings moved into a tie for second place in the conference standings, and they will be looking to make a deep run in the playoffs later this season.
For now, though, they will just be enjoying the thrill of victory, and they will be looking to build on this momentum as they move forward.
