Jamal Murray scored a game-high 20 points and the Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 120-98 despite a quiet game from Nikola Jokic. Jokic, who scored 56 and 48 points in the last two games, had a season-low two points on Wednesday night.
The Serbian big man was having an incredible stretch of games before the All-Star break and was looking to keep up the incredible pace he had set. However, against a resilient Los Angeles Clippers team, Jokic was held to just two points and was forced into six turnovers.
Despite Jokic's underwhelming performance, the Nuggets' supporting cast came to play. Jamal Murray had an impressive game with 20 points, seven assists and two rebounds. Murray made seven out of his 14 field goals and also contributed one block and one steal. Michael Porter Jr. also chipped in with 19 points, and Bruce Brown added 18 points off the bench.
The Nuggets' big win came on the back of an impressive team effort. Seven players scored double digits as the Nuggets dominated the Clippers on both offense and defense.
The Clippers are dealing with some injury concerns, but nothing seemed to stop the Nuggets on Wednesday night. Denver dominated from the get-go, exploding for a 33-point lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Nuggets continued to pour it on as the Clippers were unable to cut the deficit. When the final buzzer went off, the scoreboard read 120-98 in favor of the Nuggets.
Murray's phenomenal performance on the court capped off a perfect night for the Nuggets, and they will look to keep the momentum going as the regular season nears its end. The team seems to be strong enough to win, even on nights when their star player doesn't show up.
