Good Omens fans may be in for a surprise as news spreads that the hit Amazon series is closing out its story of an unlikely angel-demon friendship with a 90-minute TV movie. The bigger shock: creator Neil Gaiman and his production company Blank Corporation will no longer be a part of the production.
As reported by Deadline, Amazon Video halted production on a third season of the joint Amazon/BBC series in early September. The pause followed the publication of multiple allegations against one of the show's key creatives, leaving a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the show's future.
Good Omens, an adaptation of Gaiman's 1990 novel of the same name, co-authored with the late Terry Pratchett, was a critical success after its release in 2019. It chronicled the unusual friendship between angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, played by David Tennant and Michael Sheen, respectively, as they navigate their unlikely alliance against a rapidly unfolding apocalypse.
Although production on the third season had kicked off earlier in the year, the new allegations brought the entire project to a grinding halt. Fans, who were expecting a more comprehensive conclusion to the series, can now expect to see the story wrapped up in a 90-minute made-for-television movie.
