Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Leaked: The Shocking Truth Behind The Delay

The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been announced, but Nintendo's reveal trailer didn't confirm a release date for the console beyond sometime in 2025. However, some believe they've worked out when the system may be released, and it might not be until June. Nintendo also announced a 'Switch 2 Experience' event where fans can try the console, kicking off on April 4 (just after the April 2 Nintendo Direct) and wrapping up on June 1 in Seoul. Given that, people are theorizing that Nintendo wouldn't launch the Switch 2 until later in June.

There are also Switch 2 Experience events for Hong Kong and Taipei with dates to be announced later. A June launch for the Switch 2 is not confirmed, however. Nintendo's announcement of the Switch 2 Experience never says that fans attending the event get to play the system before it launches, though that is the expectation. Whatever the case, a June launch for the Switch 2 does track with previous reporting, which said the console could debut in the market in May or June.

It's also entirely possible the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events could take place even after the Switch 2 is in the market. Fans must have a Nintendo Account to participate. Ticket registration opens on January 17 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET. The Switch 2 is coming this year, and the announcement trailer may have contained clues about the system and its features, while fans believe it may have also included a first look at the next Mario Kart game.

Nintendo will hold a Nintendo Direct event for the Switch 2 on April 2, at which time Nintendo is expected to divulge many more details, so keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest. The Switch 2 Experience host cities and schedule have been announced, with events taking place in North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. The full schedule includes New York, April 4-6, 2025; Los Angeles, April 11-13, 2025; Dallas, April 25-27, 2025; Toronto, April 25-27, 2025; Paris, April 4-6, 2025; London, April 11-13, 2025; Milan, April 25-27, 2025; Berlin, April 25-27, 2025; Madrid, May 9-11, 2025; Amsterdam, May 9-11, 2025; Melbourne, May 10-11, 2025; Tokyo (Makuhari), April 26-27, 2025; Seoul, May 31-June 1, 2025; and Hong Kong and Taipei, with dates to be announced.
