Craig Tiley the boss of the Open has finally spoken out about the controversy surrounding Novak Djokovics detention and deportation from the country three summers ago
Tiley came under immense pressure at the time as the worlds number one tennis player was embroiled in a visa saga that made headlines around the globe
Djokovic had travelled to the country to compete in the Open but was detained by immigration officials upon arrival due to questions over his visa application
The Serbian tennis star had been granted a medical exemption to enter the country without being vaccinated against COVID-19 but the Australian government ultimately cancelled his visa and deported him

In a recent interview Tiley reflected on the events saying that he doesnt go back there and that the experience was a difficult one for everyone involved
