Richard Hatch, best known for his villainous appearance on the hit reality show "Survivor" and starring in "House of Villains", is back in the spotlight with some shocking statements that have raised eyebrows in the television community. Hatch has long been regarded as one of the pioneers of the strategic gameplay on the show and one of the earliest reality TV stars.
Richard Hatch spoke about the 'Survivor' experience and said he insisted he was misunderstood during his time on the show. He said the way he was perceived by producers and fans should really only be described as necessary steps taken in order to improve the then-relatively-new reality game genre. Hatch said this in recent conversations with the press - also noting how far the show has indeed progressed in years.
The "House of Villains" star made mention of the vast knowledge pool his experience brought to the TV landscape and further expressed that despite opinions about his methods - in hindsight, steps he'd make all again given opportunity to return to the tapers." "Sometimes actions as portrayed by editors aren't taken entirely out from context, these moments would demonstrate me only thinking logically," he revealed about how producers treated the different methods seen during recording. When asked about some of the characters on the current show, Hatch mentioned being really impressed with some of the different successful contestants.
Naming some legends from the scene like villains who eventually succeeded in their own paths, Hatch made special mention of how certain of their competitive steps, if taken from opposite sides, could come across as admirable qualities as in the case for their own successful television shows when they ended on the island. At the same time - further explaining why some might misconstrue certain events over other characters, but mostly agreeing with events taken at face value with recent contestants from modern-day reality television.
