LAHORE - In a monumental achievement, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has officially recognized Pakistan as a turf field builder, marking a significant milestone for the country's hockey fraternity.
This recognition is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication put in by Pakistan's sports infrastructure development sector, and is a clear indication of the country's growing prowess in building world-class hockey facilities.
The FIH's recognition is not just a badge of honor for Pakistan, but also a testament to the country's ability to construct high-quality turf fields that meet the stringent standards set by the international governing body of hockey. The recognition is expected to open up new avenues for Pakistan, as it is now eligible to bid for the construction of hockey turfs not only in the country but also abroad.
According to sources, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) had submitted an application to the FIH for recognition as a turf field builder, which was reviewed and approved by the FIH's certification committee. The committee, after conducting a thorough evaluation, was satisfied with the quality of work delivered by Pakistani contractors and the expertise they possess in constructing hockey turfs.
This recognition is a welcome development for Pakistan's hockey fraternity, which has been reeling under the pressure of lack of infrastructure. The country's hockey team has been struggling to perform at the international level, and the absence of quality turf fields has been cited as one of the major reasons for their poor performance.
The recognition by the FIH is expected to give a boost to Pakistan's hockey, as it is expected to lead to an increase in the number of international hockey tournaments hosted by the country. The construction of more turf fields will also provide a platform for young hockey players to develop their skills, which in turn will help the country to produce better players and improve its performance at the international level.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has welcomed the recognition and has termed it as a major breakthrough for the country's hockey. The PHF has expressed its gratitude to the FIH for recognizing Pakistan's capabilities as a turf field builder and has promised to make full use of this opportunity to develop the country's hockey infrastructure.
