Burnley boss Scott Parker isn’t taking too much notice of West Brom’s winless run heading into Burnley’s trip to the Hawthorns. The Clarets are set to face off against the Baggies in what promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to secure a much-needed win.
Despite West Brom’s indifferent form, Parker remains focused on his own team’s performance, rather than getting caught up in the opposition’s struggles. “I think we have to focus on ourselves and what we can control,” Parker said in a pre-match press conference. “We can’t control the opposition, but we can control how we prepare and how we perform on the day.”
Parker also highlighted the “positives” of Burnley’s season so far, despite a slow start. “I think we have shown some really good signs of improvement over the past few weeks,” he said. “We have worked hard on the training pitch to iron out some of the mistakes that were costing us dear, and I think that is starting to pay off.”
When asked about West Brom’s winless run, Parker was diplomatic in his response. “I think every team goes through a difficult patch at some point in the season,” he said. “West Brom are a good team with some excellent players, and I have no doubt that they will turn their form around soon. But our focus is on ourselves and making sure that we can capitalise on any mistakes they may make.”
Burnley will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat against Swansea City, and Parker is confident that his team has what it takes to secure a positive result. “I think we have the quality and the depth in our squad to compete with anyone in this league,” he said. “We just need to make sure that we can put in a solid performance and take our chances when they come along.”
The match between Burnley and West Brom is set to take place at the Hawthorns, with kickoff scheduled for 3pm. It promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams desperate to secure a much-needed win.
