ALL THREE points and bragging rights will be heading to Old Hope Road as Jamaica College (JC) were rampant in a staggering first-half attacking display which saw them dismissing rivals Kingston College (KC) 3-0 yesterday in an ISSA Manning Cup match at the Stadium East Field in Kingston.
The victory over the highly fancied KC is the second consecutive loss for the Purples, who are looking to make a statement in this year’s competition, but so far their performance has left much to be desired.
Jamaica College, on the other hand, are going from strength to strength as they have made it two wins in a row and have taken the solitary lead in Group B with six points.
The win also serves as a major morale booster for the JC team as they continue to make their mark in the ISSA Manning Cup competition. A title which they have not won since 1987 and the players are eager to bring the trophy back to Hope Road.
For KC, however, pressure is mounting, and if they do not sort out their problems quickly, they might just find themselves not progressing to the next round.
When asked about their performance the KC coach refused to comment and instead chose to leave the field without speaking to the waiting media.
But the picture is altogether different for JC. Their victory has presented them with a real opportunity to dominate the competition and book their place in the quarter-final round.
With the momentum clearly behind the JC team they will be looking to continue this form into their next few matches and book their spot in the next round of the competition.
For their many fans, this is something that they can’t wait for. A victory for the ages would be their greatest triumph and one that they will always cherish, and it’s starting to look like this very well could be Jamaica College’s year.
