Adobe is set to revolutionize the world of video creation and editing with the upcoming release of its latest AI-powered tool, dubbed Adobe Firefly Video Model. Scheduled for a limited release later this year, the software is expected to send shockwaves throughout the creative industry, further solidifying Adobe's position as a leader in the market.
The Adobe Firefly Video Model will be released in beta and will join the company's existing line of Firefly image-generating applications. This move marks Adobe's entry into the rapidly growing market for AI-based video generation tools, which has already attracted the attention of other notable players such as OpenAI's Sora and Stability AI's Stable Video Diffusion.
According to Alexandru Costin, vice president of generative AI at Adobe, the AI tool boasts impressive capabilities, including the ability to generate a five-second clip from a single prompt. What's more, it can interpret both text and image prompts, allowing users to specify the desired camera angle, panning, motion, and zoom. This level of precision is sure to delight videographers and creative professionals, who will appreciate the tool's attention to detail and ability to bring their visions to life.
Costin highlighted the extensive research and development that went into creating the Adobe Firefly Video Model, stating that the company invested significant time and resources into refining the tool's quality and prompt understanding. "We've invested in making this model reach the level of quality and prompt understanding that videographers expect," he told Reuters in an interview. "We've invested in making sure we really pay attention to the prompt... respecting guidance from videographers much better than other [AI video] models."p>
One of the key concerns surrounding AI-generated content is the issue of intellectual property and licensing. Adobe has addressed this concern by training the video model on public domain or licensed content, rather than using customer-supplied material. The company's extensive database of 400 million images, illustrations, and videos, known as the Adobe Stock database, serves as the foundation for the AI tool's training. This database is carefully curated to exclude any content that may contain intellectual property, trademarks, or recognizable characters.
In addition to the Adobe Firefly Video Model, the company is also introducing Generative Extend, a new tool that will be integrated into its Premiere Pro video editing software. This feature allows users to extend any existing clip by two seconds by generating an appropriate insert to fill gaps in the footage. First previewed in April, the tool has received widespread acclaim from Adobe's customer base, with Costin noting a "huge positive reaction from all of our customers."
