ROBERTS UNLEASHED: Houston Star Drops 22 Points to Crush WVU

J'Wan Roberts scored a game- and season-high 22 points as No. 10 Houston extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 32 games with a 70-54 win against West Virginia on Wednesday.

L.J. Cryer scored 18 points and Emmanuel Sharp added 12 points to help Houston improve to 23-2 overall and 11-1 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cougars' latest victory marked their 32nd consecutive win at the Fertitta Center, a streak that dates back to February 2022.

Roberts, a 6-foot-7 senior forward, was 9 of 13 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Cougars to their seventh win in eight games. He scored 13 points in the first half, helping Houston build a 38-28 lead at the break.

The Mountaineers (16-10, 5-8 Big 12) were led by Tre Mitchell's 13 points and 10 rebounds. WVU shot just 32% from the field and committed 15 turnovers, leading to 20 Houston points.

Houston used a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a 52-34 lead, its largest of the game. West Virginia got no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.

The Cougars will look to extend their home winning streak when they host Tulsa on Saturday. With the win, Houston remained in first place in the Big 12 standings, one game ahead of No. 7 Kansas and No. 14 Baylor.

The Cougars have been anchored by their strong defense, which has allowed just 57.4 points per game this season, the lowest average in the nation. They have also been strong on the glass, outrebounding their opponents by an average of 8.4 boards per game.

Roberts has been a key contributor to the Cougars' success this season, averaging 10.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. His performance against West Virginia marked his fifth consecutive game in double figures.

Houston's win over the Mountaineers marked the Cougars' 10th win this season by 10 or more points. They have also won 14 of their last 16 games, with their only losses coming against No. 2 Alabama and No. 17 TCU.
